Antonina Shevchenko VS Anissa Haddaoui | This Friday at Phoenix FC 3 | 1pm ET, LIVE on FITE

This Friday an exciting women’s bantamweight fight will go down at Phoenix FC 3 when Antonina Shevchenko takes on Anissa Haddaoui.

Antonina Shevchenko is confident she can become a world champion in the sport of MMA, just like she has done in Muay-Thai.

Shevchenko (1-0) is the sister of UFC superstar, Valentina Shevchenko. The 32-year-old will be making her return to the cage following a 2005 professional debut in which she defeated Hyun Sung Kim via unanimous decision. Also known as “The Panther”, Shevchenko has a wealth of experience in Muay-Thai and is a multiple time world champion in the sport. With Valentina recently announcing her move down to the 125-pound division in the hopes of becoming a UFC world champion, the physically bigger Antonina hopes to eventually do the same as part of the 135-pound bantamweight division. Both sisters are highly disciplined fighters and feel as though they are the best in the world in their respective weight-classes.

Haddaoui (0-1) made her MMA debut in 2014, losing a unanimous decision to Lena Buytendijk. Like Antonina, the 26-year-old is also an accomplished kickboxer and has won world titles as part of Kunlun Fights and the WFL. More recently she has been competing for Ladies Fight Night, winning unanimous decisions over Alisa Bazhukova and Kamila Bałanda. The Dutch native usually competes as a featherweight but will be making the move down to 135-pounds for the fight, she is confident in her abilities to spoil the MMA return of the highly touted Shevchenko.

Phoenix FC 3 takes place this Friday 22 September from the Indigo at the O2 in London, England. The event will be aired live on from 1pm EST.

  1. Phoenix FC? I guess that’s where one goes to resurrect their MMA careers. Apt name.
I am surprised that since both compete at FW, they didn’t just go to Bellator. Lord knows they need some talent there and I dare guess they would give Shevchenko a lot more exposure than Phoenix will. Maybe she’s trying to come in under the radar for now.
