Amber Leibrock returns to action at this Saturday’s Bellator 199 when she takes on Australia’s Janay Harding.
Leibrock (2-1) makes her first appearance for Bellator MMA since signing with the organization last year. The 30-year-old wants to put on a show for fans and is hoping she can display the fact that the featherweight division has more depth than people think.
“When I think of these fights I don’t think of it as ‘Oh I’m about to win’ you know? I think of these fights as an opportunity for the whole featherweight division to win. It’s important that not only I bring it, but Janay brings it too.” Leibrock said during a recent chat with Esha Chanel of MMA Today.
“Because our division, they need to know its not just Cyborg who is a featherweight, you know? It’s not just Megan Anderson who’s a good featherweight, you know? Like we’re not boring fighters, we have the KO power, we have the showism, and you know it takes two to tango.” she continued.
As for Saturday’s fight against Harding, Leibrock says she is prepared for a war.
“I’m hoping she’s made changes in her camp as well like I have where wrestling is a thing that could happen if it needs to, you know?” she said. “I never aim to knock people out. I never aim to finish things. I always train for wars“.
Bellator 199 takes place this Saturday May 12 from the SAP Center in San Jose, California, United States. The preliminary card featuring Harding vs. Leibrock can be viewed live from 7pm EST by clicking HERE.
