Amanda Nunes is still celebrating after picking up a huge first-round knockout win over Cris Cyborg in the co-main event of this past Saturday’s UFC 232 event.
Nunes (17-4), the reigning bantamweight champ, captured the UFC featherweight title after beating Cyborg and becomes the organization’s first female double-champion. The victory is no doubt another career-defining one for her, after already putting brutal beatdowns on the likes of Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey. UFC president, Dana White, has already said that Nunes will more than likely someday be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
Appearing on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday, Nunes discussed the big win. ‘The Lioness’ says that the Cyborg victory by far outweighs her knockout over Rousey back in December 2016.
“Knocking out Cris Cyborg, for sure. She’s the best in her division and she hasn’t lost in so long, everybody is scared of Cyborg. To knock her out and prove that I’m not scared of her at all the whole time. The first time that I looked in her eyes [I thought] I’m not scared of you. When I was able to get in her face and be able to knock her out cold, that was the best feeling ever“. Nunes said.
“I have to watch it over and over because I prepared a lot for that fight. I have to watch it over and over and it makes me feel good when I watch every time. I went through a lot for this fight and I’m glad I finished it” she continued.
