Alexis Davis and Liz Carmouche will both be making their UFC flyweight debuts when they face each other at tonight’s UFC Fight Night 123 event. This will be the second encounter between the pair, following a bantamweight bout at UFC Fight Night 31 which Davis won via unanimous decision.
Davis (18-7-0) has won seven of her last ten, with the losses coming to Ronda Rousey, Sara McMann and Sarah Kaufman. The 33-year-old went on to avenge her loss against Kaufman by submitting her at the UFC 186 event in April 2015. She owns notable victories over Amanda Nunes, Tonya Evinger and Jessica Eye. This past April she successfully took out highly-touted UFC newcomer, Cindy Dandois.
Much like Davis, Carmouche (11-5-0) has only lost to top bantamweights in the UFC, Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate and the previously mentioned Davis bout. She owns notable victories over Valentina Shevchenko (doctor stoppage) and Jessica Andrade. The ‘Girl-Rilla’ is on a two-fight winning streak, decisions over Lauren Murphy and Katlyn Chookagian.
Both women have are big names who have found a lot of success at 135-pounds and are currently ranked in the top-ten at bantamweight making them instant threats at 125-pounds.
UFC Fight Night 123 takes place this Saturday December 9 from the SaveMart Center in Fresno, California, United States. The preliminary card featuring Davis vs. Carmouche will be aired on Fox Sports 1 from 8pm EST.
