Per the Calgary Sun, the UFC has added an exciting women’s flyweight bout between Alexis Davis (19-7) and “Blonde Fighter” Katlyn Chookagian (10-1) to UFC on FOX: Calgary at the Scotiabank Saddledom on July 28.
For the first time since UFC 149, the UFC will touch down in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with a FOX card that has yet to receive a headliner. Despite no confirmed main event, it appears that two top five flyweights will be in action in a bout that potentially carries title implications.
Ontario’s Davis is scheduled to make her sophomore UFC flyweight appearance. She debuted in the new division with a hard-fought split-decision win over fellow former bantamweight title challenger Liz Carmouche. The win immediately thrust her into the flyweight top three, where she will look to stay by taking out “Blonde Fighter”.
Undefeated as a flyweight, Chookagian found success in the UFC bantamweight division before dropping back down to her natural weight class of 125-pounds. A unanimous decision win over Mara Romero Borella in January secured her a spot in the official rankings where she will look to rise by knocking off Davis.
Who will you be rooting for?
