Alexis Davis versus Jennifer Maia flyweight bout added to UFC Nashville in March

An exciting flyweight bout has been added to UFC on SPN+ 6 in Nashville, Tenn., on March 23.The UFC officially announced the bout during the UFC on ESPN+ 1 broadcast on Saturday.

Alexis Davis (19-8) is a battle-tested veteran of the UFC and Invicta. She is a former UFC bantamweight title challenger and top ten staple. Since moving to flyweight, she is 1-1 with a victory over Liz Carmouche and a loss to Katlyn Chookagian– both split-decisions.

Across the Octagon will be former Invicta FC flyweight champion, Jennifer Maia (15-5-1). Maia entered the UFC as a highly regarded flyweight talent. She had a seven-fight win streak snapped by Liz Carmouche in her UFC debut in July.

Maia recently accepted a six-month suspension from USADA after failing a drug test. Further investigation proved that Maia was innocent and a supplement she took was contaminated. Her six-month probationary period began in August when the test was taken, making her eligible to return in time for this card.

How do you see this one playing out?

  1. Poor Maia’s not been given any kind of break. She’s not even ranked in the top 15 (why, I don’t know) and her first 2 opponents in the UFC will have been top 5 contenders now that Eubanks is gone.

    1. She’s been in the top 15 for several weeks, JR, and they recently moved her up from about 14 or 15 to # 11 : talking about the UFC rankings.
