Alexandra Albu returns, meets Emily Whitmire at UFC 233 in January

A strawweight fight between a former TUF contestant and an undefeated social media darling is set for UFC 233 in January.

Emily Whitmire (3-2) announced on social media that she will fight Alexandra Albu (3-0) on UFC 233,  held in Anaheim, Calif., at the Honda Center.

Whitmire competed in The Ultimate Fighter 26, but lost to Roxanne Modafferi during the competition. She has notable wins over Emily Ducote and Jamie Moyle, and submission losses to Kelly D’Angelo and Gillian Robertson.

Albu has a very noticeable presence on social media, but she has the made the most of her brief Octagon career, notching wins over Izabela Badurek and Kailin Curran. This will only her third fight since 2015.

Who takes this strawweight clash– “Spitfire” Whitmire or “Stitch” Albu?

  1. If Albu had been fighting more regularly, her hands down. However, with only one fight in the last 3 years (since April 2015) it’s anybody’s guess. Not sure which 3 fights Terence is referring to.

Boy, with Alexandra Albu vs. Emily Whitmire, Joanne Calderwood vs. Ariane Lipski, Marion Reneau vs. Yana Kunitskaya and Cynthia Calvillo vs. Cortney Casey all on one card, UFC 233 is sounding like a pretty enticing card for WMMA fans.

    1. Hey JR. HE said “third fight since 2015” , meaning he’s including her UFC debut in 2015. He’s saying this will be her 3rd fight. Oh, you might have missed the Curran fight in 2017. I saw it, but not a whole lot of folks saw it, maybe. It was on the Fightpass portion of the Jones-Cormier II card. In that fight, Rogan kept laughing about Albu’s rockem sockem robot striking style. It was pretty hilarious ! It was a close fight.
