This Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 129 event is co-headlined by an exciting women’s strawweight fight between Mexico’s Alexa Grasso and undefeated TUF 23 winner Tatiana Suarez.
Grasso (10-1) returns to action following a split decision win over Randa Markos last August at the UFC Fight Night 114 event. The 24-year-old Mexican, who trains at the Lobo Gym along with Irene Aldana, has earned victories over the likes of Heather Clark, Jodie Esquibel and Ashley Cummins. On Saturday she looks to showcase her continued improvements to the MMA world.
Suarez (5-0) is one of the most highly-touted prospects in the women’s strawweight division. Mackenzie Dern may be receiving a lot of hype thanks to her BJJ credentials, however Suarez has accomplished similar in the sport of freestyle wrestling and prior to making the move to MMA was ranked the number-one freestyle wrestler in the United States at 55kg. The 27-year-old competed on The Ultimate Fighter 23, defeating Amanda Cooper in the finale to win the contest. She returned from injury this past November to break Viviane Pereira’s undefeated streak, dominating her for the decision win.
UFC Fight Night 129 takes place this Saturday May 19 from the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile. The main card featuring Grasso vs. Suarez will be aired live on Fox Sports 1 from 10pm EST.
