Ahead of Thursday’s fight against No. 1 lightweight Jozette Cotton, take a look back at Kayla Harrison’s impressive MMA debut

Kayla Harrison makes her second professional MMA appearance at this Thursday’s Professional Fighters League 6 event when she takes on the number-one women’s lightweight fighter in the world, Jozette Cotton.

A victory on Thursday will cement Harrison’s position as the number-one women’s lightweight fighter in the world in just her second pro fight.

Harrison (1-0) looks to follow-up on a successful professional debut this past June, defeating Brittney Elkin by way of a first-round armbar submission. The 28-year-old was receiving a huge amount of hype even prior to her pro debut thanks to her successful Judo career which saw her win the 2010 World Championships, gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, and gold at the 2011 and 2015 Pan American Games. Many are tipping Harrison for superstardom, much like fellow Olympic Medalist and former training partner, Ronda Rousey. This Thursday will give Harrison the opportunity to establish herself as queen of the women’s lightweight division in just her second professional fight as she takes on Cotton.
