After UFC debut, Sarah Frota plans move up to flyweight division

Sarah Frota plans to continue her UFC career at 125 pounds.

Frota (9-1), who earned a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series: Brazil, made her UFC debut this past weekend at UFC Fortaleza versus Livinha Souza.

Frota suffered the first defeat of her pro career in a split-decision loss to the former Invicta champ. She was also fined 40% of her purse for missing the strawweight limit by 7 pounds.

“She made weight well (for the DWTNCS fight) and if it wasn’t for her period she would have made weight now,” Marcelo Brigadeiro, Frota’s coach and manager, told MMA Fighting.

“But she gets too worried about the weight, keeps focused on the weight, and not in her training, for a month and a half. So I think she will feel better in her new weight class.”

Who would you like to see Frota face at 125?
